| About Leonard Cohen: A celebrated singer/songwriter of the classic 1960s generation, Cohen is beyond comparison and a true original, providing some of music and literature's most illuminating writing on love, sex, death and religion. Albums like Songs Of Leonard Cohen (1967), Songs Of Love And Hate (1970) and I'm Your Man (1990), right up to 1992's The Future and 2004's Dear Heather are considered visionary classics. Uniquely for a revered musician, Cohen's literary plaudits rival those for his music. His songs have been famously covered by the great and the good, each version a fascinating attempt to move closer to Cohen's enigmatic muse. From Judy Collins' Suzanne to Jeff Buckley's seminal rendition of Hallelujah, Cohen's songs have travelled as far and wide as their author. U2, REM, Sting, Nick Cave, Rufus Wainwright and the late Johnny Cash are among other famous devotees. For More Information on Leonard Cohen and his World Tour Please Visit: |

The historical perspective - Mercedes-Benz and Brooklands come full circle Mercedes-Benz and the Brooklands motor racing circuit have been at the centre of countless inspirational events over the last century. Opened in 1907, at a cost of £150,000 (equivalent of over £10.5 million today), Brooklands was the world's first purpose-built motor racing circuit hosting many sensational races including the inaugural British Grand Prix in 1929. Mercedes-Benz is intrinsically linked with this historical site and many of the stories that surround it have become legendary. On its opening day, the first Brooklands champion J.E. Hutton drove a Mercedes and two years later, Victor Héméry and his ‘Big Benz' achieved a new land speed record of 125.94mph. In 1914, the ‘Lightning Benz' set nine consecutive world land speed records at Brooklands - still the most recorded in history. After 1945, the Brooklands site was broken up by commercial developments, roads and buildings - and only part of the original circuit survived. The Mercedes-Benz World development has seen the preservation and restoration of some of the original stretches of track including the Railway Straight and sections of the Campbell Circuit.
