Thirty years after shaking the world with their massive hits Bamboleo, Djobo Djobi, Volare and many more, the original members of Gipsy Kings and founder member Chico with Patchai Reyes, Canut Reyes & Paul Reyes and their full band of musicians will be on stage in Concert on Saturday November 18th at The Royal Festival Hall.

Back in the late 70’s, Gipsy Kings were busking on the beaches in St. Tropez. Brigitte Bardot invited them to her villa to play at one of her private parties, to be seen by many film stars including Charlie Chaplin, David Niven, Peter Sellers; Gipsy Kings became the darlings of the St. Tropez set.

Chico Bouchikhi was born in Arles (home of the Gypsies). His father was Moroccan and his Mother Algerian. Chico grew up in Provence where he was befriended by the Reyes Family. Chico married Marthe Reyes and adopted the Gipsy Way of life.

In 1989 Chico, who was spokesman for Gipsy Kings, was unhappy with their management and found himself out of a job. He immediately formed his own band Chico and The Gypsies. Touring the world to sell out audiences, releasing Albums and having signed to Sony France, the Chico and Friends Album went on to have sales of nearly half a million.

To celebrate this thirty year reunion GIPSY KINGS with CHICO have recorded a new album due for release in October 2017. The first single La Guapa has just been released with a video shot in Miami with rapper Rio Santana.

His brother Ahmed was murdered in error by Mossad. By pure coincidence Chico was asked to perform at The Oslo Peace Treaty in 1994. After the concert Yizhak Rabin and Yasser Arafat went to thank Chico for his performance. Much to their surprise he said to them. “You think I am just a Gipsy Musician, but I hold you both responsible for the murder of my brother.” Then went on to say, “This must all stop and wherever I take my Gipsy’s I will promote peace and play all over the World, Palestine, Israel, Africa etc.” This he has done, taking this message with him. Last year Chico was awarded the Legion D’Honneur in France for this outstanding work and commitment to world peace.

A movie, ‘Sylvia Tracing Blood’, distributed by Ent One and shown at various Film Festivals to great acclaim, was released last year for Cinema and TV and includes the story of his brother’s murder.

So for the first time after thirty years GIPSY KINGS with CHICO will be in concert at The Royal Festival Hall, Saturday November 18th. For the biggest FIESTA ever.
