Hailing from Manchester, England, Rachel’s voice has been permeating dance floors around the world. From her first recognised recording with Family Foundation on the ‘Express Yourself’ & ‘One Blood” EP, she has worked alongside several renown dance production teams within Manchester:
She recorded’10 X 10 ’ with 808 State, joining them on their subsequent world tours. However, it would her collaboration with Loveland, who were signed Pete Watermans 380/PWL record label that she would take to the fore. Their signature music production and her uplifting vocals was to create 5 UK Top 40and No1 Dance chart singles: ‘I NEED SOMEBODY’, ‘LET THE MUSIC LIFT YOU UP’, ‘DON’T MAKE ME WAIT’, ‘KEEP ON SHINING’, ‘WONDER OF LOVE’. She went to perform with KKlass on their K2 album and also recorded the Oasis track: ’Champagne Supernova’ with Urban Cookie Collective. Although never officially released, it still remains a classic.
It would be the ‘mashup’ ofRachel’s self-penned ‘Lover’ with Paul Van Dyke’s, ‘For An Angel’ by JPS Project which would take herinto the club anthemic stratosphere!
In 2000 Rachel was diagnosed with Grave’s disease rendering her unable to perform for over 2 years. Although a devastating time, she turned her talents to working with young people from urban areas around Manchester and Cheshire, passing on her musical skills. This proved to be an inspiring time for her.
Soon LMC would approach her to record ‘Take Me To The Clouds Above’- the rest, they say, is history! This track by LMC v U2 would peak at No:1in the UK charts and around the world. Rachel’s career resumed and she was catapulted back on to the scene. She would later receive a Brit nomination for Best Single and also a Silver Disc for her efforts.
Rachel has also diversified into other areas of the entertainment industry being cast in principle roles in the West End theatre productions: Blues For Mister Charlie, One, Black Goes With Everything, RENT, and most recently Rock of Ages.
Rachel has an enviable record and body of work; still there is more to come: She is currently completing her first solo project celebrating her gospel roots. She has also recently released a new Dance track, ‘Let Nothing’, which is out on Defected Records. Whether it is gospel, theatre, or a dance floor you are guaranteed an experience that will leave you uplifted.
