Lionel Richie postpones upcoming European Summer tour

Lionel Richie has today confirmed that his European summer tour has been postponed.

“Due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic it is with a heavy heart that Lionel Richie has confirmed that his tour of Europe will no longer take place in 2020.

Every consideration has been given to the safety and wellbeing of the fans, band, crew and event organisers, but owing to the current and ongoing health crisis and subsequent governmental rulings it is no longer possible to undertake the tour.

Considerable effort is being made to reschedule Lionel’s appearance on these dates to take place in the summer of 2021.

A full list of the new dates will be shared with you shortly, but in the meantime please visit the individual festival/event websites for further information.”

International Jazz Day 2020 to take place virtually; global concert hosted by Herbie Hancock

The 9th annual International Jazz Day worldwide celebration will transition to a virtual format for 2020 instead of taking place as previously planned in Cape Town, South Africa and other locations around the world today, Thursday 30th April 2020.

International Jazz Day 2020 will take place online and be hosted by Herbie Hancock.

The day's centerpiece will be a virtual Global Concert featuring artists from across the globe, streamed live on jazzday.com. The concert will feature performances by John McLaughlin, Jane Monheit, Alune Wade, John Beasley, Ben Williams, Lizz Wright, John Scofield, Igor Butman, Evgeny Pobozhiy, Youn Sun Nah, A Bu, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Dianne Reeves and Joey DeFrancesco, among others.

Herbie Hancock, UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador for Intercultural Dialogue and Co-Chair of International Jazz Day, said, “These are unprecedented times for world citizens and we are most grateful for the support, understanding and partnership of our Jazz Day community. Paul McCartney and Elton John to join ‘One World: Together At Home’ Global Special

The World Health Organization (WHO) and Global Citizen have announced a special broadcast event to celebrate and support healthcare workers in the fight against the COVID-19 Pandemic.

‘One World: Together At Home’ Global Special will air on Saturday 18 April with this historic broadcast hosted by Jimmy Fallon of ‘The Tonight Show,’ Jimmy Kimmel of ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’ and Stephen Colbert of ‘The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.

Curated in Collaboration with Lady Gaga, the broadcast will include artists including Andrea Bocelli, Billie Eilish, Chris Martin, Elton John, John Legend, Kacey Musgraves, Lang Lang, Paul McCartney and Stevie Wonder.

One World: Together At Home will be broadcast live on Saturday, April 18, 2020 at 5:00 p.m. PDT /12:00 a.m. GMT airing on ABC, NBC, ViacomCBS Networks, iHeart Media. The BBC One will run the program on Sunday 19 April 19.

One World: Together At Home will also be a multi-hour digital broadcast streaming online on multiple global platforms, including: Alibaba, Amazon Prime Video, Apple, Facebook, Instagram, LiveXLive, Tencent, Tencent Music Entertainment Group, TIDAL, TuneIn, Twitch, Twitter, Yahoo and YouTube. This digital special will include additional artists and performances from all over the globe as well as unique stories from the world's healthcare heroes.

Al Di Meola's Across The Universe European tour rescheduled

It was decided today to reschedule Al Di Meola’s ‘Across The Universe’  European Tour this Spring, which was due to start on the 24 April.

Due to the ongoing global situation it was felt by all involved that the dates should not take place at this time

On the phone today, Al said  “I am extremely disappointed to not be able to play these shows,  but with so many borders closed across Europe, it seems clear to me that this is the best course of action at this time”

The good news is that Al  has agreed to extend his tour in the Autumn to include more cities and more countries to celebrate his new album.

Ticket purchasers are asked to retain their tickets as they will be valid for the new dates this autumn.
