MULTIPLE GRAMMY AWARD-WINNING SNARKY PUPPY ANNOUNCE UK RETURN IN 2022

Multiple Grammy Award-winning musical collective Snarky Puppy have announced a return to the UK in 2022 for a tour which includes a date at London’s OVO Arena Wembley.

A fusion of all things jazz funk and soul, Snarky Puppy are a live music juggernaut the likes of which has never been experienced before.

Though unconventional in many ways: their dynamic line-up, their blend of music, as well as their free-flowing concerts being more than just a gig; Snarky Puppy’s rise has been an organic, word-of-mouth spread phenomenon that has seen them morph into an ever-evolving and embryonic entity.

The 2022 run of October dates, which also include Glasgow, Bristol, and Manchester, will mark the first UK dates from the unique ensemble since they performed live in 2019 at the Royal Albert Hall; a performance they recorded and released as a live album (Snarky Puppy: Live At The Royal Albert Hall), winning them their most recent Grammy for last year’s Best Contemporary Instrumental Album.

The award follows on from their previous Grammy’s - Best R&B Performance in 2014, and Best Contemporary Instrumental Album in 2016 and 2017 – in what has been an incredible rise for a virtuoso, one-off group.

Snarky Puppy was formed by bassist and primary composer Michael League in 2003, starting inconspicuously enough as a group of college friends at the University of North Texas’ Jazz Studies program.

14 albums later, they have grown into a collective of sorts with as many as 25 members in regular rotation, with the sheer number of musicians making them a captivating live act. Many of the members have become successful solo artists in their own right.

At its core, Snarky Puppy represents the convergence of both black and white American music culture with various accents from around the world. Japan, Argentina, Canada, the United Kingdom all have representation in the group’s membership.

But more than the cultural diversity of the individual players, the defining characteristic of Snarky Puppy’s music is the joy of performing together in the perpetual push to grow creatively.

Their first gig was at their local pizza restaurant - roll on to 2022 and they are now playing at Wembley.

ELTON JOHN ANNOUNCES TWO VERY SPECIAL HOMECOMING SHOWS AT WATFORD'S VICARAGE ROAD

It is with great excitement that Elton John today announces two very special nights at Vicarage Road as part of his award-winning Elton John Farewell Yellow Brick Road: The Final Tour on 3rd & 4th July 2022. The home of Elton’s beloved Watford F.C, Vicarage Road is a venue that holds a truly unique place in his heart. Now serving as Honorary Life-President of the Premier League club, Elton first became club chairman in 1976 and soon appointed Graham Taylor as team manager. His tenure oversaw an unprecedented period of success that saw his boyhood team rise through the four divisions to the top flight of the English Football League. Watford also finished runners up in the First Division to Liverpool in the 1982/83 season, and reached the FA Cup Final at Wembley Stadium in 1984.

These very special Farewell Yellow Brick Road shows will be the fourth and fifth - and final- times that Elton has played at Vicarage Road. On May 5th, 1974, he famously appeared for the first time dressed in a “hornet” costume, a typically theatrical homage to the club’s nickname. He next played at the Hertfordshire club’s home ground on 18th June, 2005, as part of Peachtree Road tour. His last performance was on 29th May 2010: a night which famously raised £600,000 in much needed funds, allowing the club to purchase their talismanic striker and future club captain Troy Deeney.

I simply had to play Vicarage Road a final time as part of my Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour. My relationship with the club, with the fans, the players and the staff over the years have meant the world to me. Through the good times and the bad, Watford have been a huge part of my life. I love the club so dearly, and have had some of the best days of my life in those stands - these shows are going to be so incredibly emotional, and to spend them surrounded by my fellow Watford fans will be wonderful. We’ve been on quite the journey together. Come on you ‘Orns!
— Elton John

Forthcoming Farewell Yellow Brick Road European and UK Tour Dates Rescheduled

EJ_FYBR_2560x1200_clean_Sept2018update.jpg

Elton John has today announced that the forthcoming 2021 European and UK tour dates of his Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour have to be rescheduled to 2023.

It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that I am forced to reschedule the 2021 dates of my Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour in Europe and the UK to 2023.

At the end of my summer break I fell awkwardly on a hard surface and have been in considerable pain and discomfort in my hip ever since. Despite intensive physio and specialist treatment, the pain has continued to get worse and is leading to increasing difficulties moving. I have been advised to have an operation as soon as possible to get me back to full fitness and make sure there are no long-term complications. I will be undertaking a program of intensive physiotherapy that will ensure a full recovery and a return to full mobility without pain.

I am going to complete the charitable Global Citizen event on 25th September as I don’t want to let a charity down. Being just five songs it’s a very different physical undertaking to the demands of playing for close to three hours every night on tour and travelling overnight between countries. After this I will be having the operation to ensure the tour can get back on the road in January of 2022 in New Orleans.

I know how patient my incredible fans have been since Covid halted touring last year, and it breaks my heart to keep you waiting any longer. I completely feel your frustrations after the year we’ve had. I promise you this - the shows will return to the road next year and I will make sure they are more than worth the wait.

Love,

Elton x

Ticketholders of the rescheduled performances will receive new event information shortly and all original tickets will be honoured at the rescheduled performances.

Farewell Yellow Brick Road will recommence on 19th January 2022 in New Orleans and run until the summer of 2023.
