Three time BBC Radio 2 playlisted singer songwriter Callaghan confirms a new UK tour for 2018. Kicking off in Liverpool on 17th April, this is one of her biggest UK tours to date, culminating with a headline spot at London’s prestigious Bush Hall, on 26th April.

“I always love coming home to tour” says US based Callaghan. “It’ll be my first time playing in Liverpool, Brighton and Buckingham, and I’ll be back in York and Glasgow, playing my first headline show at Sage Gateshead, a hometown show in Lincoln and my biggest ever London date. I’ll be joined by some amazing musicians and I’m excited to get on the road and share the new music I’ve been recording this year in LA.”

The tour will coincide with the release of the third EP from a series of recordings Callaghan’s been making in LA over the last 12 months, and will give fans their first chance to hear the new songs live. Callaghan will also be performing tracks from ‘The Other Side,’ her EP released earlier this year, and songs from her forthcoming EP ‘Skin on Skin’, out this December. And of course they’ll also hear songs from her acclaimed album, ‘A History of Now’ including the aforementioned BBC Radio 2 play listed singles.

The new music has all been written or co-written by Callaghan and produced by Anthony Resta (Duran Duran, Shawn Mullins, Elton John), Jeff Fair and Starr Parodi (having worked on scores for huge films like Harry Potter, James Bond and Mission Impossible).

Originally from Lincolnshire Callaghan moved to the USA in 2010 to tour and record with Atlanta based Grammy nominee Shawn Mullins. In 2015, after five years of building her audience across the USA, she returned to the UK with her second album A History of Now, going on to enjoy a hugely successful couple of years which has seen her profile build substantially in the UK. Callaghan has since returned to the UK for multiple trips.

Highlights include two appearances at the massive C2C festival and festival appearances at Cornbury, Celtic Connections, SummerTyne Festival, The Secret Garden Party and Cambridge Folk Festival. She’s also played live sessions for BBC Radio 2’s Bob Harris and Good Morning Sunday and BBC London’s Gaby Roslin and Robert Elms as well as at local BBC stations across the UK.

For every show except Buckingham Callaghan will be joined by New England Singer-Songwriter Jesse Terry. Terry is a prolific, acclaimed, independent artist who left a writing gig at a Nashville publishing house to release his own albums and tour the world. Terry’s profile has grown considerably over the years, performing at Bonnaroo, AmericanaFest, Philadelphia Folk Festival, The Great Escape and many other notable festivals. His most recent album “Stargazer” has garnered airplay on BBC Radio 2, BBC Scotland, BBC Newcastle as well as rave reviews in the UK press.

A tribute to Kevin Cadle

Kevin Cadle / Facebook

Kevin Cadle / Facebook

We were saddened to learn today of the unexpected passing of Kevin.

Well known to many as the most successful ever coach in British basketball history and more recently Sky Sports NFL and NBA Broadcaster, Kevin was head coach to the London Towers during their hay days in the late 1990’s when the Towers were part of the Marshall Arts family.

During his time with the Towers, Kevin was not just a colleague to us all, but also a dear friend, sharing in the trials and tribulations of running a successful sports team.

We add our own tribute to those that are pouring in from around the world, from sporting bodies, media organisations, sporting personalities, friends and fans.

Kevin, you were a true legend and we will all miss you.

Moulettes announce UK supports across their December tour

Moulettes have today announced UK support across their December tour. Rachel Newton, Kate in the Kettle, Rioghnach Connolly & Ellis Davies, Bunty, Mike Dennis, and Ayanna Witter-Johnson.

Tickets on sale for all dates now.

Moulettes, one of the UK’s most unique touring bands have announced some of the most exciting and up and coming supports for their four date UK headline tour this December. Kicking off in Glasgow on 4 December and followed by shows in Manchester and Bristol before finishing up in London on 8 December where they will be co-headlining  Cadogan Hall with 9Bach for what is set to be an incredibly memorable show.

Singer, harpist and BBC Radio 2’s Folk Musician Of The Year, Rachel Newton joins the Moulettes for their first show of the tour in Glasgow at Oran Mor on Monday 4 December. Her recent album ‘Here’s My Heart Come Take It’ was shortlisted for the Scottish Album of the Year award and was described by The Observer as “a beauty”. Scottish singer, fiddle player and composer Kate In the Kettle will open the show. Having been brought up in the Folk music scene in Edinburgh and learning about traditional Scottish music, Kate Young combines these traditions with her own compositions which has established her as one of Scotland’s rising stars and critical acclaim from The Guardian, MOJO and many more.

Joining the band at their Manchester show on Tuesday 5 December will be Rioghnach Connolly. Having been a highlight at the Manchester Jazz Festival, Rioghnach is a force of nature. Her inspirations come from Edith Piaf, Ella Fitzgerald and Delores Keane but her style is her own, blending the traditional Irish music that she grew up on with songs from her various projects including Honeyfeet and Black Lung. Rioghnach will be joined by Ellis Davies on the guitar for this very special show.

Bunty, a Brighton-based musician and visual artist will be taking to the stage in Bristol on Thursday 7 December. Part of the Beatabet collective, live Bunty uses her renegade multi-instrumentalism, voice, effects pedals and a mash of real and made-up languages. Her live show is like nothing else with each set bringing to life a huge amount of improvisation, meaning this performance will be unlike any other she has done before. To continue the theme of the unexpected, in addition to Bunty, classically-trained violinist Mike Dennis will be supporting. His love of Run DMC, Beastie Boys and Gangstarr has led him to create a unique kind of string-heavy hip hop music he calls Violinica. Drawing inspiration from daily British life and the perils and profits of love - you will not see any other artist like this!

The final date of the tour will see The Moulettes co-headline the prestigious Cadogan Hall in London alongside 9Bach. They are joined by multi-talented rising star Ayanna Witter-Johnson. Having been nominated for a MOBO Award, this vocalist, cellist, pianist, songwriter and composer from North London is unlike any other with her live shows taking the audience on an intimate journey.

For The Moulettes December 2017 is the concluding chapter of the two-year ‘Preternatural’ tour, and the last chance to see the astounding live show that has taken the band across Europe from Poland to Malta, and across Canada from Nova Scotia to Victoria Island.
